Volcanic Grotto

Completing Volcanic Grotto grants access to Road to Paladia.
Unlocked by completing each area of the Old Mine at least once.
Monsters with Thorns/Shield are useful here, but when used against you, use magic attacks with high damage.

Thorns and Reach = Ouch. Your melee position is under constant attack. Use a Flying non-melee with Armor or a high-shielded passive (ideally with Thorns) and let your back row do their job.

With a little (much) luck, several armors, Counter and the occasional assistance from your usually not very long living back row, a Blu'jutsurtle can do pretty well here. The flying cards are very annoying. A well protected card with Thorns prevents Thrash damage and helps quite a bit. Armor also helps, as the AI has lots of damage dealing items.

Only Melee cards, but everything deals at least 30 damage. Except for Thrash and Light Bombs, your back row is safe, so keep your Melee healthy. Get rid of the card using Long Spear or perish.

Kill the Blood Knight and this level becomes much easier. Magic probably works best, but enough armor and decent Melee damage + back row support works, too. If you have one, put a Shield20 with enough HP card against it, but watch out for equipment and the ranged cards picking on your back row. NOTICE: opportunity can be incredibly useful, especially if you can hit all cards w/o armor in one hit.

It's vital to build up and/or keep the computer from building up. Musculard first usually means you can't kill him, your first card will be destroyed and he will constantly attack your melee position. Too much dodging from Kukulkan can make winning rather difficult.
Sometimes, the computer does not want to / can't play a card on turn 1 and one card is dumped. This can give you a decisive advantage.

Probably only rarely beatable with just Level 1/2 cards without farming Crystals for more Boosters / EVO Crystals.
Get some better cards / EVO Crystals if you are stuck. Early Dragon is rather bad, especially if it equips an armor. To be able to win, your first card played has to survive (and ideally, kill the computer's first card). If that's not possible, consider not playing a card, you might just lose equipment and can play 2 cards / card with equipment at once next round. Acolyte and Sniperoo in the first rounds are a rare, but joyful opportunity to build up and crush the opponent. Good luck. NOTICE: farming this area is not recommended unless you have nowhere else to go, don't like swarms, and is absolutely stuck on a stony shore.
