Card Monsters is the newest game from Edgebee (Open Beta start: 30. March 2012), currently playable via Kongregate, Armorgames or Edgebee. Similar to other CCG, you can choose from a wide range of cards to build your deck and battle other players or the computer. Fighting in areas and vs. swarms takes different amounts of light, whereas duels and Live Play have a daily limit.

Getting Started

When playing the game for the first time, you are greeted by the following screen:

g4xg7b74.jpg

Choose either Tridentite, Gerbip, Staglamite, Percushions or Snowblade and click on Select.
Your first battle is about to start.

At Level 1, Staglamite, Tridentite and Percushions are probably the most useful. Gerbip and Snowblade are weak.

All cards can be useful at higher levels, but since you most likely will replace your starting card with stronger monsters soon, your choice doesn't really matter.

If you can't see the Select button, right click on the game and Zoom out, or play in Fullscreen Mode.

If the game won't load, check the FAQ.

Strategies

Helpful tips for beginners.

Daily Gift Roulette

wcdkcnpy.jpg

yh9wwnjx.jpg

  • Roulette will be available again 23h after your last spin (you might need to reload the game for it to appear).
  • Increase the Streak Counter by logging in daily to unlock better rewards - and get rid of the bad ones.
  • Chances for each reward are equal, but tokens can only be won on the first try across all Edgebee games to prevent false players starting all games just to get more tokens.
  • The Streak Counter will decrease by 5 if you don't login for 36 hours.
  • Although it does not display it, the Hard EVO (the purple thing in the upper right corner) is removed after 150 logins.

Monster Cards

Most monster cards have at least one of the following attacks. There are a few that lack these basic skills, but compensate by having one or more abilities that allows them to fulfill a different role (e.g. Healer or Tank).

"Damages an enemy that is in the center position, but only if attacker is also in the center position."

"Fires a projectile from the back row. Targets the back row farthest creature first. Blocked 25% of the time by armor."

"Fires a blast of magic at the opponent directly across, or at the center opponent if there is none."

Melee

Range

magich.png

Magic

Flying monster can evade (50%), unless the attacker is also flying.

Can only attack from the middle position

Reach and Backstab will allow Melee attacks from the backrow

Attacks the target at the far opposite position first, then straight across. If there is none, they attack the enemy melee position.

Armor can negate ranged damage (25%).

Flying can avoid ranged damage (25%).

A ranged attack with Break will never be deflected by armor (Flying still can)

Ranged attacks can NOT be used from melee position!

Magic ignores armor and shield.

Non-Monster Cards

Each monster card can use one piece of equipment. Giving another piece of equipment to a monster removes the first equipment (no refund).

A monster of a certain color can only use equipment of the same color. Generic equipment can be used by all colors, but requires more crystals.

Usables can be applied without removing equipment cards.

Here's a complete list of all equipment cards.

Weapons

equipment.jpg

Gear

usable.png

Usables

Weapons strengthen an existing or provide a new attack. Gear provides an ability. Abilities from gear cards only work as long as the card isn't destroyed. Healing potions, direct attacks etc. One use per fight only.

armorn.png

Armor

Armor absorbs all attacks except Magic until it is destroyed. The attack destroying the armor is fully absorbed unless the attacker has the Cleave ability. It also has a 25% chance to deflect range attacks.

Abilities

Abilities add variety to the game. A complete list of abilities can be found here.

Foils

A foiled card can be shared and used by multiple decks at once unlike a normal card (which can only be used in one deck at a time). They are indicated by a white border around the card on all graphics settings. Any card can be made a foil by adding a shining crystal to it. The crystal costs 75k gold before any gold discounts or 250 tokens in the crystal shop. Any card drawn from a booster has a 1% chance of being already a foil. Normal and Highest graphic settings add a shine to a foiled card.

Fighting

A detailed explanation of the battle screen can be found here.

Duels

Battle the computer-controlled decks of other players. Fight your way up to Elite League and show the world who is best!

For a more detailed explanation, go here.

Campaigns

Completing an area gives up to three rewards, each requiring to fully complete the area again.

Completing each area at least once unlocks the next zone and will also give an achievement, giving another reward or unlocking a new swarm to fight.
