Botting

We've been made aware that some of you are using bots to gain an unfair advantage in our games. This goes against our Terms of Use Agreement and also against common practices for these kind of games. We are asking you to stop. We've added some features that are collecting data to track the wrongdoers. Those who persist in this will be dealt with appropriate measures.

I sometimes put my cell phone on the space bar and watch a movie in split-screen... technically I might be cheating, but I assume Edge means something along the lines of a repetitive key tracker that can reproduce mouse and keyboard movements so it can "play" for you when you're not there. That said, the word "play" is long lost once there's boting involved.

I'm not too familiar with Critter Forge, but I can't imagine someone would be botting in SQ... the game is just too slow for it to make sense. Then again, I *have* been wrong before.

Botting is use to play automaticly with a program that can play to the game even if u're not un front of ur screen.

I dont know how ppl can be so lazy to play themself :D

how could botting be possible in SQ? in PVE you wouldnt be able to navigate in the maps would you? I'm not too familiar with the concept of botting, but writing a script that could navigate an unknown map in such a game would be quite advanced in terms of programming I think, something I assume that nobody would try for a game. On the other hand, about honor fights and ladder fights, that maybe possible, but still, who would be so lazy as to go to such measures instead of just playing and having fun while doing it?

I don't think weighing down the space bar would be considered botting. Hell I do that even when I'm exploring new areas. I think they are referring to a macro/script that actually clicks "Search for monsters", holds spacebar to fight, loots the chests and repeats, so that you can leave it on overnight or whatever.

I mean, there's no real way to distinguish a phone (or pad of paper) from your hand holding space bar in battles.

wait you mean holding down spacebar will make it auto fight? You just cut so much dime down because i hunt for monsters while watching tv ill just randomly tap the space bar while hunting down in palace 5. Nothing there really scary, and deep sea spacebar isnt really an option with a fresh group of guys to be leveled

This post is primarily referencing Critter Forge, where botting is a real problem. I'm glad to see Edgebee taking a stance on this and hope to see a level playing field restored.
